Brilliant analysis and understanding of the idea that words and how we communicate is revelatory of purpose and audience. I have struggled with this idea of students being "forbidden" to write in passive voice, and I think there is a certain type of rhetorical or literary genre that suffers from this "new rule", but wow -- this is so, so good on so, so many levels of understanding and importance. So glad I found it. Bravo you!! Jane
