Wow. You are good. Good as in seeking ways towards being good, and good as in brilliantly well written. Apart from the Psalms, as you mention, and my years of “literally being humbled” (haha) by mistakes I made or actual wrong or naughty things I got caught in, one of the most useful discoveries I have made about this topic is Kathryn Schultz’s book (and Ted Talk) on “Being Wrong”. I have shared her book with many people I love, and now I am delighted to share your essay here with those same folks. Because ultimately I have found that finding ways towards my own sense of humility has led me further into deeper love relationships. Thank you for this.
