Yowza, holy moley, and great Gatsby! I have read, "loved", taught dystopian literature for decades. I am guilty of often bringing up Orwell and Orwell and Orwell again and again in this current time of our Big Brother Hate is Love and the fat pigs dining at cards season in America. I read Atwood years ago, and Saramago, and Huxley, Bradbury, Golding - on and on, and on. I too have seen our current season more as the bottoming out of the slippery slope of capitalism masquerading as something else in America for years and years. (Something Orwell pointed out about Animal Farm not being just about communist Russia) AND I thought I had a bit of a handle on the idea of dystopia but this essay of yours BLEW ME AWAY. It is so brilliant I am just open-mouthed without really any intelligent words to write to you about just how illuminating and true truth-telling and awesomely astounding this is. So glad I happened to find this. I will be rereading. All I can say, is thank you for all that you put into this. Thank you. You are just plain brilliant!
